April 23, 2009

President Genel Nichols called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and called for introductions and announcements.
Lauren Humphries announced the three part Alzheimer’s series “Joggin your Nogin” which cost $75 for each facility. Genel suggested PSSN sponsor event for all senior centers in Portage County. Denise Czech motioned PSSN sponsor the event. Lisa Little seconded but the motioned was tabled until a review of the number of senior centers that would be involved to determine if the PSSN budget could support sponsoring the event. Marta Williger suggested amending the motion to limit to 10 senior centers. Denise Czech motioned PSSN sponsor the three part series for all senior centers in Portage County, Lisa Little seconded the motion and the motion passed.

PROGRAM: Jane Bissler PhD, LPCC provided a program on Grief & Loss. Jane announced to the membership that through a donation Kelly’s Grief Center will open soon to provide grief counseling to parents who have suffered the loss of a child.

Secretary’s report:
Due to lack of time minutes were not approved.

Treasurer’s report :
None

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Community Relations: Lisa Little reminded members about the membership breakfast event May 7 at 8:30 a.m. at Longmeadow Care Center.

Education Committee-
Due to lack of time no report was given.

Old Business: B.K reminded members about the next Forum May 16-“Maintain your Brain” sponsored by Alzheimer’s Association.

New Business: Genel Nichols announced nominations will be completed at the May meeting.
B.K motioned to adjourn the meeting and Diane Knaser-Forsythe second the motion & the motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 a.m.

The next meeting will be held may 28 2009 at
705 Oakwood St. Ravenna at 8:30 a.m.
