PSSN MINUTES
January 22, 2009
ATTENDEES: Charles and Marlene Armstrong (Marlene’s Low Vision), Diane Barben (The Campus of Anna Maria), Kim Benner (Coleman Adult Day Center), Eric Bloniarz (Medical Service Co.), Jane Gwinn (FCS/Senior Track), Carol Haas, AAOA, B.K.Hall (Emeritus Senior Living).Nedra Hill, (Mobile Meals), Dorothy Jones (PC Society of the Blind), Michele C. Kairis ( Coleman Adult Day Services), Lisa Little (Home Instead), Genel Nichols (KentRidge at Golden Pond), Evelyn Peck (Reed Memorial Library), Barb Pochedly (Portage C. District Library), Crystal Shanley (FCS/Senior Track), Jim Stilson (VIP Homecare Inc.)

President Genel Nichols called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. at the
Reed Memorial Library and called for introductions and announcements.
Genel Nichols announced the 2nd Annual Chili Cook Off at KentRidge at Golden Pond on Friday February 20 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Secretary’s report:
Claudette Rogers motioned to accept the minutes with the corrections (the Thanksgiving Brunch Bunch benefited the Coleman Adult Day Center food program and the Society of the Blind meets at the Church of God in Ravenna). Nedra Hall seconded the motion and the motion passed.
Treasurer’s report :
Eric Bloniarz presented the treasurer’s report and it will be forwarded for review.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Community Relations: Jane Gwinn reported the committee met to plan the balance of the programs for the rest of the year. The committed will meet again on February 18 at 9:00 a.m.(hopefully with the Membership committee) to coordinate events.
Education Committee: Crystal Shanley has contacted Robinson Memorial Hospital Community Health Educational programs for a program on February 26.
Client Services Committee B.K Hall announced about the speakers series for the next few months. B.K. Hall also announced that plans to create a Senior Advocate award. Info about the forum series is on the PSSN web site. January 21-Maintain your brain (Alzheimer’s Assoc.), March 21 – A panel of experts discussing the Economic Environment and the impact on seniors. May 16-Living options for seniors (assisted living, adult day care etc). Vendors tables will be available for $25. Contact B.K. Hall for more information. The committee is in the process of producing a card with a list of legislative government contacts.
Membership Committee-.Charles Armstrong encouraged members to sign up on the PSSN web site. The committee meets the third Tuesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. at Bob Evans in Kent (at Rt. 261& Rt. 43). Charles noted the committee needs more members and invited PSSN members to attend the next committee meeting.

Old Business: Genel announced that the tri-fold for PSSN will be corrected and reprinted. Genel suggested members contact her for assistance to sign on the web site
New Business.: Genel Nichols announced we are on the waiting list for a table at the Randolph Fair. Genel added that PSSN may not be notified until June and the cost is $25 per sq. ft. for a table inside. If a sight outside is only available a shelter will be needed.

Program- Library staff provided PSSN members with a tour of the library. Evelyn Peck provided information about the library services to the homebound. Evelyn explained she travels to institutions, apartments and some private homes to deliver talking books and other media.

The next meeting will be held February 26, 2009 at the regular meeting place at 705 Oakwood St. Ravenna at 8:30 a.m.
