PSSN Minutes – September 25, 2008

In attendance: Charles Armstrong, Annette Balis, Janine Bell, Carol Haas, Dorothy Jones, Diane Knaser-Forsythe, Alison Machel, Genel Nichols, Evelyn Peck, Jo Perko, Barb Pochedly, Mandy Zantow, Janice Jackson, Denise Czech, Jennifer Snyder, Pam Marsillo, Sarah Hallksy, MaryKay Stevens, Eric Bloniarz, B.K. Hall, and Kathi Guckelberger

Genel Nichols called the meeting to order at 9 a.m. Introductions, announcements and agency updates were given.

Genel introduced our speaker, Sarah Hallsky from the Health Dept. Sarah gave a CEU presentation on the subject of MRSA.

A motion to approve the minutes was given by B.K. Hall and seconded by Janine Bell. The motion passed unanimously.

The treasurer’s report showed a balance of $3,664.69

The Committee Reports were as follows:

Community Relations: Mandy Zantow announced the Christmas Party to be held at The Crossings at Golden Pond condo clubhouse on December 5th. Cost will be $7.00. PSSN will be contributing to Christmas projects at the Newman Center and the Santa for Seniors drive. Currently, baskets are being prepared for the Harvest Ball.

Education and Training: Sarah Hallsky announced that the committee is currently setting the calendar with future speakers.

Client Services: B.K. Hall announced two “Meet the Candidates” nights that are currently being organized. Tentative locations are in Aurora and Kent.

Membership: Charles Armstrong put a call out for more help on this committee. He explained the responsibilities, which includes setting up the informational table at each PSSN meeting.

Old Business
The officers are very pleased with the use of the web site. We will talk to our web master in regards to making our application for membership available for download from the web page. Genel and Jane can help any member having trouble getting their information on the site.

Charles Armstrong explained the one vote per organization rule as set down in the by-laws of PSSN.

New Business
Denise Czech suggested getting on the waiting list now for a table at the Randolph County Fair. Currently the wait is one year.

Genel Nichols introduced a motion to contribute $50 for the Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s. After discussion, that motion was dismissed, and Denise Czech motioned that the contribution be in the amount of $100. Diane Knaser-Forsythe gave the second. The motion was unanimously passed.

Denise also announced the Hospice Awareness Event to take place in Solon. She gave each attendee a flyer explaining the details.

A motion to adjourn was given by Diane Knaser-Forsythe with a second from Denise Czech.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 a.m.

Our next meeting is October 23, 2008.
