PRESIDENT – Denise Czech-Dydo called the meeting to order @ 8:50 AM and thanked F&CS MAPP/Legacy and Po.Co. Sr. for the refreshments and Kent Healthcare for the raffle prize.

MINUTES – A motion was made by Michele Kairis to accept the August minutes. Seconded by Stacie Russell and carried.

TREASURERS REPORT- Given by Denise Czech-Dydo.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

EDUCATION: October program will be “Street Smarts”. A motion was made by Dorothy Jones to pay the speaker $50.00. Seconded by Laurel Kane & carried. The November program will be “Generational Co-Hearts” by Lucy Bibbee.

MEMBERSHIP: Denise read an invitation to attend the PSSN Meet & Greet breakfast on Nov. 3rd – 8AM @ Kent Ridge on Golden Pond to kick-off the 2012 membership drive. Bring a potential member and RSVP to Genel by Oct. 31. The goal is 50 members for 2010.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS: Laurel Kane announced that invitations to the Harvest Ball have been delivered to all Sr. Centers in Po. County and reservations are being received. The date is Oct. 19th – 11-1:30 @ the Ravenna Elks Lodge. All PSSN members are requested to furnish a door prize. They may be delivered to Home Instead, Portage Home Health or the Elks on Oct. 19th.

NEW BUSINESS: The Executive Board will plan the Dec. 2 Christmas Party.

PROGRAM: Stacie Russell introduced Rebecca Raines of Transitional Healthcare Solutions who described her new service to seniors who change locations within the health care system. Breakdown of communication among providers results in poor quality of care and frequent re-admission to hospitals. Continuity of care is high priority and hospitals will be financially penalized after Oct. 12 for preventable re-admissions during a 30 day period following discharge.

Steve Kastenhuber of Visiting Angels won the raffle prize.

A motion to adjourn was made by Stacie Russell and seconded by Marta Williger.
