PRESIDENT – Denise Czech-Dydo called the meeting to order @ 9AM and thanked Larissa Carter of Kent Healthcare for the refreshments and AndraPolasky of Coleman Adult Day Services for the raffle prize.

INTROS & ANNOUNCEMENTS – AndraPolasky is doing fundraising only and announced the Dessert Extravaganza on Aug. 4, 6-8:30 PM @ Coleman .
Stacy Russell of Homewatch Caregivers announced the Alzheimers Walk @ Blossom on Oct. 1.
Diane Barben passed out fliers for the Anna Maria Car Show on Aug. 14, 10AM to 3PM.

MINUTES – A motion was made by Diane Barben to accept the June minutes. Seconded by Annette Balis and carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

EDUCATION: Crystal Shanley thanked Matt Gurwell for presenting today’s program. Aug. 25, Jeannie Flossie will present Alzheimers/Dementia. Lucy Bibbee will present Generational Changes in Nov. Possible speaker for Dec. Potential topics are Pet Therapy and Self Defense/Safety.

MEMBERSHIP: Genel Nichols announced that more members are needed. Next meeting in early August.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS: Diane Barben announced that PSSN will sponsor the Harvest Ball on Oct. 19, 2011 at the Ravenna Elks Lodge. All Senior Centers in Po. Co. will have tickets. Door prizes welcome.

OLD BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS: Denise announced the Areawide Advocacy Council meeting on Aug. 12 @ 9AM at the Ravenna Sr. Center to discuss the drastic cuts in funding for Sr. Services. There will be a meeting of housing providers and residents of Silver Oaks Place on Aug. 8 from 4-7PM.

PROGRAM: The program was presented by Matt Gurwell, retired OH State Patrolman, and founder and CEO of Keeping Us Safe. He provides senior drivers and their families with help to ensure a smooth transition from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat. His programs include Group presentations, CEUs,Self Assessment and a workbook – “Beyond Driving With Dignity”.

The raffle prize was won by Lisa Little.

A motion to adjourn was made by Dave Ullmo& seconded by Diane Barben.
