June 23, 2011

PRESIDENT ELECT – Crystal Shanley called the meeting to order @ 9:00 AM and thanked Jo Perko for the refreshments. The raffle prize was donated by Crystal Shanley.

MINUTES – A motion was made by Jo Perko to accept the May minutes. Seconded by Lisa Little and carried.

TREASURER REPORT: Given by Annette Balis.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
EDUCATION: Crystal announced the tentative schedule of programs: July – Matt Gurwell (Safe Driving), August – Jeannie Flossie RN (Alzheimers/Dementia), September – Lucy Bibbee (Generational Changes), October – Pet Therapy.

MEMBERSHIP: Genel displayed the new folder of PSSN information to be given to visitors and new and potential members. They were given to all attendees at the 10th Anniversary Celebration. The committee is working on the Christmas Party/New Member Promotion. They will meet in early August.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS: Jane Gwinn passed the Record-Courier full page color coverage of the 10th Anniversary Celebration and announced that planning has begun for the Harvest Ball..

OLD BUSINESS: Web site planning is pending.

NEW BUSINESS : Annette Balis read a request from the Streetsboro Senior Citizens Foundation for a $50.00 basket for their fundraiser. A motion was made by Crystal Shanley to donate the basket. Seconded by Jo Perko and carried. Denise Czech-Dydo will assemble the basket.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Crystal announced that as of Nov. 1 the Senior Track Program will be eliminated. This affects Crystal and Jane Gwinn who will seek employment elsewhere.
David Glaser formerly with Anthem now has his own business – Glaser Senior Health Insurance.
Stacie Russell of Homewatch Caregivers announced a CEU on 07-21-11 – “Quit You Beaching” regarding disorder and bullying in the workplace…..
David Ullmo announced the Alzheimers Walk for October 1, 2011
Mary Tuck announced that her duties now include MAP, Legacy Corps and Respite Care.
PROGRAM : The program was presented by Diane Ash, owner/operator of “In Working Order”, providing home and office organization, de-cluttering and moving assistance. She explained the importance of organizing legal documents and important papers so they are easily accessible, disposing of outdated bills and publications and donating unused clothing, appliances and any unused items that could be a health hazard.

A motion to adjourn was made by Jane Gwinn and seconded by Annette Balis.
