PSSN Education Committee
Minutes from the November 6th, 2009

Members Present: Jane Gwinn, Crystal Shanley, Claudette Rogers, Jennifer Reynolds, and Linda Vogel.

Meeting was called to order at 9:30 am.
It was held at 705 Oakwood Street suite 224, Ravenna.

The calendar for the year is as follows…

November 19th, 2009 - 1 hour CEU “Dashing through the Dough” presented by Linda Vogel. Purpose: To raise awareness of holiday stress and help participants and their clients avoid unproductive and extravagant plans during the holidays. Objectives: Learn the causes of holiday stress, Recognize how stress affects you and those around you, Find ways to avoid unnecessary stressors. Linda Vogel is a Quality Improvement Specialist/Training & Advocacy. She has been with the Area Agency on Aging for 15 years and worked in the field of aging for over 25 years. Ms. Vogel graduated with a BA degree from Kent State University, is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio and is a licensed Master Trainer for the Chronic Disease Self Management Program of Stanford University. Healthy Tips for Health Care presented by John Gwinn. (confirmed)

February 25th, 2010 -
Low Vision State Funding Program presented by Jim Lenahan. (confirmed)

March 25th, 2010 -
The How and What of Veteran’s Benefits presented by Bob Parks. (confirmed)

April 22, 2010 -
United Way Community Involvement in Portage County

May 27th, 2010 - TBA

June 24th, 2010 - 10 year Celebration of PSSN

It was also discussed that the Education Committee will attend the next meeting of Community Relations to team up and discuss the upcoming 10 year Celebration.

Next meeting will be January 20th, 2010 at 9am at Loyalton.
