July 23, 2009

President Elect Denise Czech called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m. and called for introductions and announcements.
Denise Czech announced that “A Round To Remember” golf outing on September 2, 2009 at Brookledge Golf Club will raise money for Alzheimer’s Association. Also announced that Crossroads Hospice now has ads running in the Physicians Life and Longterm Living magazines.
Diane Knaser-Forsythe announced a happy hour mixer hosted by Medical Services and Caretenders on July 30th at Winking Lizards in Fairlawn.
Claudette Rogers announced free mammograms plus flu shots and Medicare release changes set for Oct. 20th at the ROC.
Jeanette Messimo announced the Woodlands at Robinson will have a Garage Sale on August 8th from 9am-4pm. Also announced that Woodlands at Robinson will host our PSSN meetings in their meeting space if our location is not available to us at ROC.
Dorothy Jones announced that the magna-site machines are available for seniors to test a Reed Memorial Library.
PROGRAM: Speaker Toni Brown-Harris with Ohio Benefit Bank discussed how Ohio Benefit Bank provides neutral locations throughout the county for residents/seniors to apply for assistance for DJFS programs; including Medicaid, Food Stamps, and HEAP/PIPP. Toni Brown-Harris handed out information on Ohio Benefit Bank and provided the group with several locations for seniors to apply. Also indicating that the program is in need of counselors to go through training to assist with the application process and that the program is in need of additional locations to set up meeting space. Please contact Toni Brown-Harris at DJFS (Ravenna) for any additional information.
Secretary’s report:
Claudette Rogers made a motion to approve with corrections to June minutes adding Barbara Pochedly to attendees to June meeting, Diane Barben second the motion and the motion passed.
Treasurer’s report:
Reviewed as a group the budget and balance from previous meeting.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Community Relations: Jane Gwinn reported that the committee will not be hosting a health fair this year but may join other agencies in their health fairs. Jane Gwinn reported a possible senior event this spring to honor seniors in our community and possibly PSSN to support with raffle prizes. Next meeting August 19th 9am at Loyalton.
Education Committee: Claudette Rogers reported that the committee will meet Tuesday August 4th 9:30am at Home Helpers to discuss topics for upcoming programs. Also reported that Claudette Rogers and Crystal Shanley will co-chair the committee.
Client Services: Kathy Guckelberger reported that committee appointed Kathy Guckelberger as chair of the committee. Kathy Guckelberger handed out PSSN resource cards to members providing important phone numbers to needed resources for our patients/clients to use.
Membership: No report since members are not in attendance today. Updates at next meeting once Eric Bloniarz returns from out of town.
Old Business: Membership dues are due by 3rd week in August if you want your agency’s name printed in this year’s PSSN brochure. Denise Czech handed out enrollment cards. Denise Czech also passed around sign up sheet for committees and encouraged members participate in committees. A gentleman was supposed to attend today for website assistance but did not show up.
New Business: A Women’s Health event will be sponsored by TownHall II on Oct 10th at Roosevelt High School and they are in need of venders. Please contact Erin Crane at erins@townhall2.com by August 3rd if you agency would like to participate.
Claudette Rogers motioned to adjourn the meeting and Diane Barben second the motion and the motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 10:17a.m.
The next meeting will be held August 27th at
Community Room at ROC at 8:30 a.m.
Medical Services Co. will provide refreshments
